SNAME offers numerous awards and medals to recognize professional achievement.
The Awards Committee recommends to the SNAME Council candidates for “The David W. Taylor Medal,” “The Vice Admiral ‘Jerry’ Land Medal,” “The Davidson Medal,” “The Captain Joseph H. Linnard Prize,” “The Vice Admiral E. L. Cochrane Award, “The William M. Kennedy Award,” “The Blakely Smith Medal,” “The Webb Medal,” the “Elmer L. Hann Award,” the Student Paper Awards, Certificates of appreciation, the Distinguished Service Award and such other awards as may be established by the Society. The Awards Committee also considers nominations for awards by other institutions on behalf of the Society.

SNAME Presented three medals at the 2010 SNAME Annual Meeting:
- The Vice Admiral "Jerry" Land Medal was presented to Joseph J.Cuneo, Chairman, Marinex International Inc.
- The David W. Taylor Medal was presented to Peter Tang-Jensen, Sr. Vice President, Technology, American Bureau of Shipping
- The Davidson Medal was presented to Apostolos D. Papanikolaou, Professor and Director, Laboratory of Ship Design, National Technical University Athens.
