Increasing energy demand and a dwindling number of easily accessible fields are the drivers for activity at the margins of what is technically possible. This poses an increasing number of challenges for offshore engineering. Deep water extraction is a subject of growing interest to the offshore and energy industries, due to the unique set of technical problems which it presents.
