By means of the T&R Program, the Society encourages and sponsors maritime research into areas of the ocean sciences, with particular emphasis on marine vehicles and offshore structures. The T&R Program consists of several "T&R Committees" dedicated to general areas of research. "Panels" serve as subcommittees of the T&R Committees to provide more focused research into defined areas.
