The 17th SNAME Texas Section Offshore Symposium was held in Houston in early February 2012. The Offshore Symposium is held on a semi-annual basis, with 150 to 200 attendees. The symposium format includes 20 technical papers, an engineering ethics breakfast, and a topical lunch speaker.

Workshop on Ship Stability
The Office of Naval Research and the Chesapeake Section sponsored the 12th International Ship Stability Workshop (12th ISSW) in Alexandria, Virginia; this year’s event was a part of a longstanding series of international technical meetings in the field of stability of ships and ocean vehicles. The 12th ISSW was hosted by the David Taylor Model Basin (NSWCCD).
There were over 50 papers in ten sessions; four papers have been selected as SNAME Featured Papers of the Month:
