Experimental Investigation of Sailing Aerodynamic Behavior in Dynamic Conditions
The Office of Naval Research and the Chesapeake Section sponsored the 12th International Ship Stability Workshop in Alexandria, Virginia. The 12th ISSW was hosted by the David Taylor Model Basin (NSWCCD). The format of the workshop entails in-depth discussions in an informal manner, resulting in an ideal environment for participants who are interested in current developments and provides an opportunity to ask questions on topics “you’ve always wanted to know.” There were over 50 papers in ten sessions; four papers have been selected as SNAME Featured Papers of the Month:
GOALDS - goal-based damaged stability: collision and grounding damage
Addressing challenges in the validation of dynamic stability simulation tools
Considerations on parametric roll and dead ship conditions for the development of second generation intact stability criteria
