2012 Marine Forensics Symposium

The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers offers sympathy to those that have lost their lives and loved ones as a result of the COSTA CONCORDIA disaster.  SNAME is very much concerned about safety of life at sea.  Our membership includes experts in the field of ship design,  marine engineering, and ship operation.  Our Technical and Research Program will examine this recent incident as the facts become more known, to see how we can contribute in an appropriate manner.

Featured Papers & Presentations

The Office of Naval Research and the Chesapeake Section sponsored the 12th International Ship Stability Workshop in Alexandria, Virginia. The 12th ISSW was hosted by the David Taylor Model Basin (NSWCCD).

The format of the workshop entails in-depth discussions in an informal manner, resulting in an ideal environment for participants who are interested in current developments and provides an opportunity to ask questions on topics “you’ve always wanted to know.”

There were over 50 papers in ten sessions; four papers have been selected as SNAME Featured Papers of the Month:

Papanikolaou, Bulian and Mains
