Subject: SNAME: Shortage of Engineers?

Dear SNAME Member,

Are you aware of the developing shortage of naval architects, marine

engineers, and ocean engineers?

Do you know that many naval architecture, marine engineering and

ocean engineering graduates do not enter the marine industry or

leave the industry prematurely?

How should future marine professionals be trained? Should they

specialize at the undergraduate course level? Or would it be more

efficient to train new graduates with general engineering degrees

to meet the need? How did you become a marine professional?
